We sill learn the scientific foundation & physiological benefits of yoga for these conditions along with how we can inhance healing and decrease discomfort & pain through gentle and therapeutic postures.

You will be guided slowly & expertly through modified posed designed to improve your bone strength and step-by-step development of muscular strength. Explore ever-expandingjointfreeing movement, circulating their fluid &stimulating renewal of cartilage, tendons, ligaments, & flexibilty to support joints and bones. Throughout there will be an emphasis on balance and posture. Learn how your breath can decrease the stress response. Discover methods to decrease pain & increase vitality in a comforable & compassionate environment. We will conclude with restorative poses to relax, renew, & rejuvenate.

If you attended her prior workshop, please join her again as new handouts & the latest updates in appropriate poses for arthritis, osteopenia,osteoporosis, & joint replacement as well as prevention will be presented. No prior yoga experience necessary.

Yoga for the Management of Arthritis & Osteoporosis Part II, with Dr. Kathy Sward

                                                                             February 26th 1:00 - 3:30pm

This is the second of two part series. The first part having been presented at The Loft, Bedford Post, Bedford NY. However, it is not required that you have taken Part I to attend. There will be a review at the beginning of class. So join special guest Dr. Kathy Sward, PHD, MPH, RYT-500 for a continuations of the exploration into the physiology of osteoporosis and arthritis. We will learn scientific keys and physiological benefits along with how we can enhance healing and decrease discomfort and pain through gentle and therapeutic postures. 

Explore additional joint freeing movements, develop muscle strength to support joints and bones, build on the foundation you extablished in Part I to decrease pain and increase vitality in a comfortable and compassionate environment. We will conclude with restorative poses to relax, renew and rejuvenate. No prior yoga experience necessary.

Relax into Stillness: Restorative & Reiki

The Yoga Loft at The Bedford Inn, December 6th, 2015, from 1:30-3:30 pm.

In this workshop, we will gently be guided through supported restorative poses, breath meditations, and visualizations. Individualized attention for energy flow will be offered.

Yoga Therapeutics for Autoimmune Conditions

Join special guest Dr. Kathy Sward, PHD, MPH, RYT-500 as she presents the phsyiological issues of autoimmune conditions and the scientifically based mind-body benefits of yoga therapeutics.

This workshop is especially designed for those with chronic pain or health conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, diabetes, lupus, chronic fatigue, and many other autoimmune health concerns. We will learn to diffuse stress and adjust for a gentle healing using a painless practice.

Poses are adapted to allow our mind and body to calm, joints to align and rest, and muscles to lengthen and strenthen. Our practice ends with guided relaxation to alleviate pain and heal from within. No yoga experience is necessary. All are welcome.
